2017 Canadian Open Schedule

As you plan your 2017 blind golf schedule, please consider adding Canada to your itinerary.

The 2017 ISPS Handa Canadian Open Blind Golf Championship will be held at the King’s Forest Golf Club in Hamilton, Ontario from August 14 to 16, 2017.  King’s Forest is a beautiful and challenging course.  In 2010, it was the only municipal course to make the list of Canada’s top 100 golf courses.

Players will stay at the Visitors Inn in Hamilton.  Our practice round on Monday, August 14, will be followed by two days of stroke play competition at King’s Forest.

In addition to the Canadian Open, we will also be hosting a one-day scramble event on August 17 at the nearby Chedoke Golf Club – the home course of the only blind golfer currently in the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame, Claude Pattemore.

Hamilton has its own airport and is also located about 40 minutes from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport or about 90 minutes from the Buffalo, NY airport.  Niagara Falls, casinos, Toronto Blue Jays baseball, and much more are within an hour’s drive.

The $250 CAD entry fee will cover:

  • Four rounds of golf for the blind golfer.  There may be a small charge for coaches to play in the practice round and/or scramble event.
  • Golf car fees
  • Five nights’ accommodation at the Visitors Inn
  • Breakfast and lunch during the Canadian Open

Additional details regarding the schedule, accommodations, transportation, meals, etc, will be shared in the next few months.

The Nova Scotia Blind Golf Association will also be hosting a tournament, almost immediately following ours.  Players leaving Ontario on August 18 can travel to Nova Scotia to check in on August 19 for the Brian MacLeod Memorial tournament from August 20 to 22.
