Derrick Sheridan MBE
Derrick became involved in Blind Golf in 1989 after hearing about it on the radio.
He first became Chairman of England & Wales Blind Golf (EWBG) in the mid 1990s and was the first President of the IBGA from 1998 to 2004. He is currently serving a second period as Chairman of IBGA. He was instrumental in the development of the IBGA Handicap System enabling competitors from around the world to have confidence they are competing with each other on a level playing field.
He has won many EWBG events including their Matchplay Championship on three occasions. His best finish internationally was runner up in the British Open in 1991 and he has represented England several times against Scotland and the USA.
A career Civil Servant he was made a member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 1990 for his services to the Employment Service and received his honour from the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
Derrick is Chairman of IBGA.
